Custom 2012 Toyota Tundra Fetches a Handsome Price Charity Auction

If you were to take a glance at the 2012 Toyota Tundra that recently sold at the Barret-Jackson Charity Auction, you'd think the person who bought it for $100,000 was out of their mind... and for good reason. The truck looks old, rustic, and just plain beat up.

But that's all part of the look.

The 2012 Toyota Tundra in question was custom made by NASCAR driver, Clint Bowyer, and it's been designed to pay tribute to the American heartland. And it does so with design cues like a white-painted vertical grille, a wood-bed floor, vintage-looking 20-inch wheels, and rusted-red paintjob that's done entirely by hand.

The end result is a truck that looks as though it's seen more days of work than it actually has. And it's one that Toyota knew true truck enthusiasts would love to get their hands on.

At the official auction, the bidding began at around $30,000. Not bad, but considering all of the custom work that went into this new Toyota truck, we here at DCH Toyota of Oxnard thought it would go for more. And it did once Bowyer sweetened the deal with one of his official driving suits and a trip to next year's Daytona 500.
