April 2012 Compact Sales Figures Topped by Toyota Corolla

With total sales coming in at over 160K for the month of April, Toyota is looking stronger than ever. The Japanese car manufacturer is reporting a 11.6% increase in vehicles sold over last year, and they don't anticipate a slow down.

"Thanks to continued strong sales of Camry and Prius family, Toyota was America's number one retail brand for the second straight month," said Bob Carter, Toyota Division group vice president and general manager, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. "With consumer confidence improving; we expect to see sustained industry growth in the months ahead."1

While the Toyota Camry and Camry Hybrid led sales, with a combined 36,820 units sold, and the Toyota Prius Family of Cars (includes the 2012 Toyota Prius, Prius c, Prius v, and Prius Plug-In) followed up quite well with a total of 25,168 sold, we here at DCH Toyota of Oxnard would like to take a moment to shine the spotlight on last month's unsung hero in the new Toyota lineup. That would be the Toyota Corolla.

With only one model offered, it managed to sell a total of 24,804 units. And while that feat might seem impressive when compared to the lineup leaders, which offer multiple platforms, what really catches our attention about the Corolla is that it led the entire compact car segment in terms of sales. Specifically, while almost every other automaker in the compact market saw a decrease in sales over April of last year, the Toyota Corolla managed to zip right ahead with a 2.4-percent increases.

And with that, DCH Toyota of Oxnard, invites you to take the Corolla or any other new Toyota you're interested in for a test drive today. Simply contact us online or by phone at 888-586-9944.
